Donald Trump has slammed Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts for a “disgraceful” ad in which she tells women they can vote “secretly” for rival Kamala Harris.
The Oscar-winning actress narrated a 30-second commercial, likely to be seen by millions ahead of Tuesday’s presidential election, that shows two women entering a polling booth, looking at each other and then secretly voting for Ms. Harris .
Mrs. Roberts says, “In the only place in America where women still have the right to choose, you can vote however you want and no one will ever know.” Remember, what happens in the cabin stays in the cabin.
As she leaves the polling station, a woman’s husband asks, “Did you make the right choice?” to which she replies, “Of course, honey.”
Last night, Trump told Fox News: “I’m very disappointed in Julia Roberts.” She will look back and shudder.
Donald Trump has slammed Julia Roberts for her ‘shameful’ ad urging women not to tell their husbands how they voted.
Trump said Roberts would “look back and shudder,” referring to his ad encouraging women to keep their decision to themselves.
I happen to be married to a pretty strong woman. I have surrounded myself with strong women. Can you imagine a wife not telling her husband who she is going to vote for? Have you ever heard anything like that?
‘Even if you have a bad relationship, you are going to tell your husband. It’s a ridiculous ad.
The announcement, from the liberal group Vote for the Common Good, sparked an immediate reaction. Toni Holt Kramer, founder of the Trumpettes, one of the most influential Republican women’s groups in the United States, said: “Julia Roberts should get into acting. What makes her think she can talk to anyone about politics?
“How condescending is it, today, to suggest that women need permission to vote differently than their husbands?
‘Women are not stupid. Mrs. Roberts is absurdly condescending.
The attempt to persuade Republican women to give their vote to Harris has become a cornerstone of the election.
