Ramandeep Kaur Mann receives applause for the colorful artwork she has been making behind bars

A cheating British wife who murdered her husband by poisoning his dinner and slitting his throat is winning rave reviews for her art exhibitions on India’s death row, MailOnline can reveal.

Videos and images show convicted murderer Ramandeep Kaur Mann, from Derby, being applauded for the colorful artwork she has been making behind bars, as well as the Christmas cards she made for senior officials.

Charity workers visiting the institution to distribute gifts for the festive season are then filmed being presented with some of Mann’s elaborate paintings, which they inspect and admire up close, while she looks on demurely and smiles.

Mann, 39, was sentenced to death last October after being found guilty of conspiring with her lover to murder her husband Sukhjit Singh, 34, while they were on vacation in India.

She added sedatives to his biryani dinner and slit his throat while he slept in the marriage during a countryside trip with their two children in 2016.

But his family has criticized the Christmas celebration of his prison artwork as “disgusting” and “insulting.”

Bans Kaur, Sukhjit’s mother, told MailOnline: “She doesn’t deserve any applause and has no right to celebrate Christmas or any other occasion while I continue to suffer.”

She is a cunning and evil woman, and I don’t believe for a minute that she has changed. This is all done for his appeal against the death sentence and is an attempt to curry favor with the prison authorities. “It’s absolutely disgusting.”

He added: ‘I will speak to prison officials about this. For the sins he has committed, he should suffer in a cell without having the opportunity to paint and have a comfortable life.’

While waiting for the executioner’s noose, Mann is housed in the Shahjahanpur district jail in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, where she shares a dormitory-style cell with 55 other prisoners.

Officials told MailOnline that as well as painting, Mann has also been taking part in yoga classes and providing English lessons for some of the inmates and their children.

Jail superintendent Mijaji Lal said: ‘When he came to jail, he was a different person. She used to stay alone, depressed, and had difficulty with prison culture and food. His hair began to fall out. We organize special food according to your needs. We did therapy for many days and now she is a different person.’

And he added: ‘She doesn’t demand anything special. Just the brush and the colors to make paintings. His health has also improved and he has stopped falling.’

MailOnline was shown a Christmas card Mann made from Mr Lal in which she writes: “Dear Superintendent, Sir.” Merry christmas. A happy new year!

‘I sincerely wish you much success and, most importantly, good (sic) health. Thank you for everything you do for me and for the entire prison. We are very lucky to have you. I wish you a great year ahead.’

Lal also revealed Mann’s daily diet behind bars and that he no longer receives special food like when he first arrived.

He presented evidence against her that was instrumental in securing her conviction.

Arjun chillingly described to MailOnline how he watched his mother suffocate his father with a pillow before his lover hit him over the head with a hammer and then slit his throat.

Arjun said, ‘There are not many children who see their mother killing their father and then bear witness to it. How do you try to move on with your life after something like this?

I have had to be very brave and I am proud of what I have done because I have justice for my father.

‘My brother and I no longer consider this woman my mother, she is evil.

‘We don’t want to have anything to do with her. As far as I’m concerned, she stopped being a mother to us the moment she murdered our father.

Commenting on his death sentence, which in India is usually carried out by hanging, he said: ‘I would like to be present when that happens. It doesn’t fill me with fear, in fact, it would give me a lot of satisfaction and relief and I look forward to that day. I would like my whole family to be there with me.

‘I would like to see with my own eyes that justice has been done for my father. She deserves to be hanged because she did something so evil.

Arjun was awakened on the night of the murder while sleeping in a bed next to his father’s because he did not eat the biryani laced with sedatives, which his younger brother Aaron, who was 5 years old at the time, ate.

Recalling the events of the night, Arjun said, ‘I was fast asleep and then I heard a loud noise. I looked up from under the sheet and my mom was on top of my dad smothering him with a pillow.

‘Then Gurpreet, whom I called “Mithu uncle”, hit him on the head with a hammer. I remember the two of them had a conversation saying “he’s still alive. We have to put an end to it.”

Then my mother took the knife and cut his neck.

The police arrived within an hour, but it wasn’t until later that day that Arjun whispered to his grandmother what he witnessed as officers spoke to Mann in a separate part of the house.

She was arrested at the family home in the northern Indian village of Basantapur, where they had stayed while visiting Mr Singh’s mother.
