Speak with Closer to weekly in 2019, she revealed that she was living in a small apartment with a friend and doing odd jobs to make ends meet while she waited for the release of Airplane.
“I came back to New York and babysat for money until the movie came out,” she said.
“I went up to the opening on some crutches because the baby broke a glass and I stepped on it and there were stitches on my foot.”
Hagerty is best known for her comedic timing and portrayal of quirky characters, but received critical acclaim for her supporting role in the 2019 drama Marriage Story.
‘We shared the apartment illegally because the rent was so low, but if the sink broke we had to wash the dishes in the bath! So you’re in a big movie and then you’re in this one, but it keeps everything in really good perspective.”
Hagerty has been married twice and has been with her second husband Richard Kagan since 1999. They have no children.
