But now Aidan Turner is attracting attention for his facial hair – and it’s not very flattering.
Fleece was seen sporting a bushy caterpillar mustache during filming last week, prompting comparisons to fictional football coach Ted Lasso and Magnum star Tom Selleck.
Turner, 39, adopted the tousled look for his role as a fiery TV presenter in the Disney+ adaptation of Jilly Cooper ‘bonkbuster’ Rivals, which is set in 1986.
Filming, at Chavenage House in the Cotswolds, was a return to familiar territory for Turner, as the imposing house was also used as the location for the Poldark family mound, Trenwith, in the BBC drama.

One onlooker said: ‘Aidan is back in his old turf. He looked like he was having a great time driving his old Mini Clubman around the grounds. It was a really cold day but that didn’t stop some of his fans from coming over to watch. They were overjoyed when he went to talk to them.
Turner’s character in Rivals, Declan O’Hara, is married to Maud, played by Irish actress Victoria Smurfit. She was spotted wearing a blue skimpy party dress — plus fleece for protection from the elements when the cameras weren’t rolling.
The show also stars Alex Hassell as former Olympian and Tory MP Robert Campbell Black, and David Tennant as his ambitious and arrogant neighbor Lord Tony Paddingham.
