Ex-professional Markus Babbel criticized Julian Nagelsmann in clear words after the separation from FC Bayern.
“What does a coach do when things aren’t going so well and you’ve just come home with a loss, when you’re skiing? That surprised me. And then Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic should go to the Zillertal and visit him? Where are we from? go there?” Babbel said to “ran”, referring to the circumstances of Nagelsmann’s dismissal after the 2-1 defeat by Bayer Leverkusen before the international break.
“The coach is a highly paid employee who has to do his best for FC Bayern. But after a game like this, if I feel like I can go on vacation. When I heard that, it almost got me off the couch hit me. I found that shocking,” added Babbel.
With Nagelsmann, he didn’t have the feeling “that he wanted to learn more,” said the 1996 European champion. “He said that he is the way he is – and if it doesn’t suit you, he has to take consequences. That’s stupid . As Bayern Munich coach, you have to try to learn something new every day.”
With the German record champions, the head coach “must not put himself above the team,” Babbel clarified. “There were so many things that made me shake my head and realize that Bayern Munich is still a size too big for Julian Nagelsmann at the moment. He’s just too childish.”
FC Bayern: praise for Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic
CEO Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, on the other hand, praised Babbel for their work.
“Of course it’s different from Kalle Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß, but they’re trying to the best of their knowledge and belief to make the club a top brand,” said the 50-year-old. “When I look at the squad, I can only congratulate Hasan. He did an exceptionally good job for me. For me, he and Oliver are doing great. They want to learn and get better.”
Hoeneß also “made mistakes” but had enough time “to become who he was in the end,” said Babbel.
