The 66-year-old Oscar nominee has just signed on to play the main antagonist alongside Bob Odenkirk (pictured July 12) in Universal Pictures’ highly-anticipated action sequel Nobody 2, which is now set to hit US and UK cinemas on August 15, 2025.
The film is directed by German-born Indonesian filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto, who previously directed The Big 4 (2022), V/H/S/94 (2021) and May the Devil Take You Too (2020).
Bob, who suffered a heart attack that left him widowed in 2021, spent two years transforming his 5-foot-9 frame in the gym through John Wick-style stunt fighting training with 87Eleven’s Daniel Bernhardt, as well as firearms training at Taran Tactical.
“I was totally against bulking up,” Odenkirk said. The Guardian in 2021.
“I didn’t want to look like a superhero. I’ve had friends who do superhero movies and do that kind of weight training, and it’s all about biceps and all that. I said, ‘I want to do my own fights, but I also want to look like a dad.'”
The two-time Emmy Award-winning writer was inspired to executive produce and star in Nobody after his family was burglarized twice at their Los Angeles home in 2011.
“It was very damaging,” Bob explained.
“There’s a feeling, a residue that sticks with me, of what else could I have done? I wish I had done more. If you look back with some perspective, you say, “Well, you did the right thing. You didn’t exaggerate the danger or make the interaction more damaging than it needed to be.” But you can’t help but think, “What else could I have done?”
Sharon and Odenkirk previously co-starred as Agent Iris Burton and method acting teacher Tommy Wiseau, respectively, in James Franco’s 2017 film. critically acclaimed Biographical comedy, The Disaster Artist.
