Sharon Stone has revealed that she’s out of a cop – and that she can give up acting for good.

In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, the Hollywood superstar, 63, claimed her age and ‘difficult’ reputation have made her struggle to find work.

“I have been released,” she told the newspaper on Friday.

The Basic Instinct star believed the reason for the severance package was, ‘That I’m really hard to cast and there are no roles for people my age. And of course I am a bit difficult. ‘

The Academy Award nominee said she may not find a new agent at this stage in her career.

“Maybe I won’t. Maybe this is it, ”she told the newspaper, adding that she might quit acting for good.

In her recently released memoir The Beauty of Living Twice, Sharon admits she was cocky and stood up to the men who ran Hollywood throughout her career, but she was labeled tough.

“Oh, I used to cause some trouble … It was so easy to turn people on,” she admitted.

“I think I liked to have control over people’s thoughts, and it was so easy to get them from their rockers.”

Also in her memoirs, Sharon described how she beat her director Paul Verhoeven in a rage after seeing the infamous leg crossing and weed moment in the erotic thriller Basic Instinct.

She left a preview of the lurid drama after discovering that his assurance that her naked crotch would not appear on screen had been a lie and that the audience could – as she put it – ‘look all the way to Nebraska’.

In her Radio 4 Women’s Hour and BBC Sounds interview this week Sharon also talked about it the movie industry labels her as a ‘difficult woman’ and says it’s because of her inability to lie.

She said: ‘What it really is is that I don’t have the ability to lie. And I think people find that quite unpleasant.

‘I don’t know if that’s really gruesome or just coercion. And I think people find that kind of shocking and disturbing.

“And telling the truth can come off as quite insulting, or the favorite Hollywood word – difficult.”
