Sharon Stone achieved the kind of success her fellow actors could only dream of — but the untimely deaths of her brother Patrick, 57, and infant nephew River was a brutal settlement for the Hollywood A-lister.
The 65-year-old Basic Instinct star lost her beloved brother in February after he suffered a sudden and fatal heart attack — just 18 months after his 11-month-old son, River, died of total organ failure.
Now Sharon has opened up about the brutal toll of their deaths, telling DailyMail.com at the NYWIFT Muse Awards: “It’s a lot, the impact is devastating.”
Speaking about the course of her grief, the actress admitted she’s still struggling to come to terms with the heartbreaking losses, saying: I just try to take each day as it comes. I just have to try to understand.
Sharon Stone opened up to DailyMail.com about her “devastating” grief over the death of her brother Patrick, who passed away of a fatal heart attack in February.
Speaking at the NYWIFT Muse Awards, Sharon (seen with Patrick) admitted she was “just trying to understand” the loss of her brother – who died 18 months after the death of his infant son, River.
Sharon’s nephew, River (seen), died in August 2021 of complete organic failure at the age of 11 months, and the actress said the loss of two of her family members was “devastating.”
The actress noted that she had “worked a lot with death” in her role as an AIDS ambassador, but emphasized that the impact on her of the losses of her brother and nephew remains unbearable.
“Because I’ve worked with AIDS for so long,” she said, “I’ve worked with death a lot but the effect has been devastating.” “I just try to take each day as it comes.”
Sharon sent shock waves around the world when she took to Instagram to announce the death of her younger brother, Patrick, in February.
“Hi everyone, this message is to confirm that we lost my brother Patrick Joseph Stone due to a heart attack yesterday,” the heartbroken star shared in a short video.
And she spoke not only about the devastating loss of her brother but also the death of her nephew River, who was just 11 months old when he died of multiple organ failure in August 2021.
“Yeah, he’s the guy we lost to him last year when he was 11 months old,” she said. He is survived by his wife Tasha, son Hunter and daughter Kylie.
The child died a few days after he was found in his crib suffering from “acute organic failure” that left him in a coma.
She said: ‘My nephew and Judson River Stone was found in his bed (with) complete organ failure today.

Speaking at the NYWIFT Muse Awards, Sharon admitted that “the effect is just devastating,” adding that she “just tries to take each day as it comes.”
“Like any family, we thank you for your love and support during this immeasurably sad time and appreciate all your condolences,” the actress said. “Yes, we have suffered a tremendous loss these past two years, and many of you have suffered as well.”
The Total Recall actress ended the clip by showing her gratitude to her fans: “Thank you so much for the love and support you have shown us and we just ask that you continue to be kind. Thank you.’
Sharon’s sister-in-law, Tasha, also shared the shocking news of her husband’s death on Instagram: “My heart feels like it’s been ripped out of my chest.” Patrick went to be with our beautiful river… I don’t know what to say, it was my world.
She added, “I’m not sure what life is supposed to look like without my husband by my side and quite frankly I don’t want to, but of course I will.”
“I just hope you’re always by my side, watching over Hunter and Kylie and me. “
Sharon was born to Dorothy and Joseph William Stone in 1958 and grew up with three siblings with whom she maintained close bonds even as she rose to the heights of Hollywood fame.
Her older brother Michael Stone, 72, also tried to follow his sister’s path in acting, with a role in the 1995 movie The Quick and the Dead, but it hardly made waves in Hollywood.
Later, after successfully battling his drug addiction, Michael’s son Colin met a tragic end after he succumbed to his drug addiction, and died of a drug overdose at just 22.

Sharon first shared the news about her nephew’s organ failure in August 2021, when she made a plea to her fans for prayers.
Sharon’s two younger brothers, Kelly Stone-Singer, 62, and Patrick, have lived a more typical life.
Sharon’s younger sister Kelly nearly dies during the pandemic when she is hospitalized with COVID-19 which is aggravated because she has the autoimmune disease lupus.
Kelly had critical symptoms and was hospitalized with severe breathing problems.
At the time, Sharon took to social media to inform her followers of her sister’s progress while criticizing “those who don’t wear masks” for putting vulnerable people like her brother at greater risk.
“My sister Kelly, who already had lupus, now has COVID-19,” she said.
One of you mask wearers did this. She does not have an immune system. The only place I went to was the pharmacy. There is no testing in her county unless you have symptoms, then wait 5 days for results.
While speaking about her sister’s battle with the disease in an Instagram video shared in August 2020, Sharon also shared that her mother, Dorothy, had suffered a ‘heart attack’ in the five months before she posted it.
Stone said her mother must have had “five stents,” which help open the arteries and prevent blockages in the heart — and as a result, the heart’s rhythm.
