Sharon Osbourne was paid nearly £7,000 for every minute she appeared on screen during her stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house, it has been revealed.

The former X Factor star, 71, caused a furor when it was revealed she had joined the star-studded lineup of the ITV reality show for an eye-watering fee.

But fans were left disappointed when it was revealed she would only be staying in the house temporarily as a ‘lodger’, joining housemates such as Louis Walsh, Ekin-Su Culculoglu, Fern Britton and Gary Goldsmith.

It was previously reported that ITV bosses were unable to match the huge fee Sharon was requesting to appear on the show, with sources claiming she would still be paid a whopping £100,000 a day.

After nine days in the house, Sharon finally said goodbye during a live eviction episode on Tuesday, and it seems ITV really had to splash out on every minute Sharon was on screen.

She said: ‘I don’t want to be away from Ozzy for too long. We are incredibly close as a family.

‘I can’t remember a time when I went a week without talking to any of them. Through all our fights and feuds we have maintained communication and this separation will undoubtedly be the longest.’
