Emergency services are quickly pruned to a beach along the west coast of Australia after a shark attack.

Perth reported that there was a man on Pyramids Beach in Dawesville, a suburb in Mandurah this morning.

It was reported that the man in his twenties was on rocks with his legs dangling in the water when he felt something pulling his leg at 8.50 am.

He managed to free himself from the shark before he ran for help.

St John Ambulance crew arrived on the scene before a RAC rescue helicopter lifted the injured man to be treated at the Royal Perth Hospital.

The Western Australia police told reporters that the injury was non-life-threatening and a St John spokesman confirmed that the man was injured on the underside of his leg.

It used to be believed that the man was surfing, but the emergency services have said that their thoughts on the matter have changed.

Surf Life Saving WA had tweeted a shark observation earlier in the morning and warned the fishery to be cautious.

Fishing Western Australia has insisted on water.

A similar incident with a shark attack happened on the beach in 2015, when an 18-year-old boy was bitten.

Mandurah man Ben Gerring became a victim of a deadly shark attack in nearby Falcon Beach in June 2016.

The subject of protection in the area has been treated many times in the past, with debate about whether or not to install drumlines.
