Free agent linebacker Shaquille Leonard still hopes to play in the NFL this season.
Leonard, 28, told Indianapolis Star that if a team calls him, he will be ready.
“What interests me most is simply to sit down, recover the health of the body and Whenever the opportunity presents itself, we will try.“Leonard said. “It’s just still me working hard. If it happens, it happens. If it’s not like that, it’s not like that. I think throughout my career I’ve had a great career, even if I walk away from it. . . . “I’m enjoying life and waiting for that opportunity.”
Leonard, a second-round pick of the Colts in 2018, was the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and a three-time first-team All-Pro in Indianapolis. But injuries limited him to just three games in 2022, and during the 2023 season the Colts waived him. He became popular with the Eagles and finished the season in Philadelphia, but there hasn’t been much interest in him this offseason. He would like that to change, but he has made peace if he doesn’t play again.
