Shannon Sharpe has revealed her secret to the fountain of youth, sharing what she sees as a “necessary evil” to staying fit at her age.

The former NFL player, who won three Super Bowl rings with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens in the late 1990s, is a huge gym rat, though he only works out for 30 to 40 minutes a day.

He also follows a strict diet and nutrition plan that almost always includes lean meat, such as fish or chicken, fruits, carbohydrates and vegetables.

Standing at 1.88m tall and weighing 111kg, Sharpe admitted he wants to lose the weight before his birthday next June and admitted he can only achieve this through the most challenging exercise for his size and age… burpees – a squat thrust with an extra standing position between reps.

“Being on the floor and lifting for a long period of time at 245 pounds… that takes a lot,” he said.

“When you look at those CrossFit guys, none of them weigh 245 pounds, I can tell you that. I hate doing it, but it’s also a necessary evil for what I want to accomplish.”

Sharpe typically sets up his weekly gym routine for chest and shoulder exercises, and weights, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and legs on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

She also receives massages on Wednesdays and Saturdays and starts her day anytime between 3.30 and 4am after waking up half an hour earlier.

Sharpe recently revealed two instances from the early 1990s that led him to get involved in unnecessary drama involving women in his homes and that discouraged him from sleeping with anyone other than his bed.

Sharpe has kept her love life under wraps for most of her time in the spotlight and has apparently never married, although she does have two children, Kaley and Kiari, from different relationships.
