Shannen Doherty’s friend has slammed the actress’s ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko for his lack of “humanity.”
Business consultant Tara Furiani shared a post via LinkedIn on Sunday, criticizing the photographer, after it was revealed that Doherty agreed to finalize her divorce from him just one day before her tragic passing at age 53.
‘I am really sad and upset about the death of my friend Shannen.…Due to the divorce I was going through at the time,’ Tara wrote.
“She had stage 4 breast cancer that had metastasized to numerous parts of her body, death was inevitable and she knew it… she made peace with that,” she continued.
“But the pain and suffering she endured in the preceding months would not have been so profound if her husband had been a decent human being. He could have shown a little humanity towards his dying wife.”

“Life is very hard… life is even harder with cancer and without the support you thought you would have.”
“If you have the chance to be a decent person, take it. You have no idea what people have to deal with and what they’re going through…”
She added: “Oh, and ladies, please get tested. We shouldn’t keep losing people to this. Early detection is critical.”
According to multiple reports, the Charmed star signed a document to waive spousal support on July 12. Doherty died the following day after a battle with breast cancer.
In addition, Doherty agreed to a “default or uncontested dissolution” of the marriage.
The move indicates that Doherty and her ex finalized their divorce without court intervention.
“The parties have entered into a written agreement concerning their property and their marital or domestic partnership rights, including support, the original of which is being or has been filed with the court,” reads the document, obtained by People.
The documents were later signed by Iswarienko on July 13.
“Her pain and suffering in the preceding months would not have been so profound if her husband had been a decent human being. He might have shown a little humanity towards his dying wife,” she wrote.

Sun Doherty also reportedly waived her right to receive spousal support. “I knowingly forever waive any right to receive spousal or partner support,” she wrote in court documents obtained by the outlet.
Both Doherty and Iswarienko had asked the court to end support for both parties, according to The Sun.
“I request that the court terminate spousal or partner support forever for the plaintiff and the defendant,” reads the document signed by the actress.
Doherty and Iswarienko married in 2011, but the actress filed for divorce in April 2023.
It was Doherty’s third marriage; she was previously married to Ashley Hamilton and Rick Salomon.
In June, he accused Iswarienko of intentionally delaying the legal process to avoid paying him.
Doherty was attempting to obtain much-needed spousal support from Iswarienko as her monthly residual income dwindled.
People reported that the actress had not received the requested financial information about the photographer’s archival work.
The beloved star’s death was announced on Sunday. It came about a month after she confessed that the past year had been “really tough” for her. Pictured earlier this year in Orlando, Florida.
Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. Just two years later, the star revealed the cancer had returned (pictured: Doherty in March undergoing radiotherapy)
“It is simply not fair that Kurt is allowed to prolong our divorce in the hopes that I will die before he is obligated to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife, to whom he was married for over 11 years,” she said in the filing.
Iswarienko’s attorney, Katherine Heersema, responded by saying Shannen was offered a settlement agreement in October 2023, but turned it down.
“Kurt is not just waiting for Shannen to die. He wants what is best for Shannen and he wants them both to be able to put this case behind them and move on,” she said.
In response, Doherty said she rejected the proposed arrangements because they “avoided the issues of her original works created during the marriage” and “her earning capacity.”
Doherty died at the age of 53 on July 13. On Sunday, his publicist, Leslie Sloane, confirmed the actor’s death.
“It is with great sadness that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of battling the disease,” Sloane told People.
“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by loved ones and her dog, Bowie. The family asks for privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace,” Sloane added.
Doherty, who played Brenda Walsh in the hit 1990s series, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.
Shannen rose to fame in the 1990s on the hit show Beverly Hills, 90210 alongside Ian Ziering, Tori Spelling, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Gabrielle Carteris and Luke Perry.
Just two years later, the Charmed star revealed that the cancer had returned after going into remission.
At the time, she told Good Morning America: ‘In a matter of days or a week it will be known that I’m stage 4. So my cancer came back and that’s why I’m here.
“I don’t think I’ve processed it yet. It’s a bitter pill to swallow in many ways,” he said.
Last year, she announced that the cancer had spread to her brain in an Instagram post showing her undergoing radiotherapy. She later revealed that it had also spread to her bones.
