Shane Warne reveals that he didn’t meet son Jackson until he was months old

Shane Warne has revealed the sacrifices he made during his illustrious cricket career.

While the athlete traveled the world to compete for Australia, he often spent months away from his family.

Now 51 and retired, Shane says spending time with his three children has been a blessing in the past year during the pandemic.

“I wasn’t a nine-to-five dad who came home every night,” he told A Current Affair on Friday.

“They had to watch Dad on TV for months at a time because I played cricket for Australia,” he told A Current Affair on Friday.

Shane continued, “One of the greatest sacrifices is being away from your family for a long time. It’s not easy, it’s really hard. ‘

He added, “Nowadays you have FaceTime and everything else, then it was completely different.”

Shane said cricketers would be too busy playing to “ grind for births, ” and admitted that he hadn’t met his son, Jackson, 21, who was born in 1999, until the toddler was months old.

However, the proud father says that despite his time away from his family, his children have grown up to be people he admires.

“It’s just so much fun and they’ve gone, I’m proud,” he told the program.

“They all have their own personalities, but I’m proud of them, they’re great kids, great young adults,” Shane said.

Shane shares his brood with ex-wife, Simone Callahan, 51.

The former couple was married from 1995 to 2005. They reconciled again briefly, but broke up for the last time in 2010.
