The devastated family of a worker who suffered serious head injuries following a horror moped accident in Bali are preparing to have his life support taken off.

Shane Ramsey, 30, had been visiting the Indonesian island for a wedding and was riding a motorbike in Seminyak on Sunday when he crashed into a pole on the side of the road.

He was not wearing a helmet and did not have travel insurance, which would have cost him only about $50 a week.

Mr Ramsey was rushed to hospital, where he underwent brain surgery and has been in a coma ever since, racking up huge hospital bills.

His family paid $70,000 for him to undergo emergency neurosurgery and arranged for a medical evacuation flight, believed to have cost around $150,000.

Mr Ramsey landed in Perth shortly after 5pm on Thursday and was taken by ambulance to the intensive care unit at Royal Perth Hospital.

In a tragic update on Saturday, Mr Ramsey’s family will be forced to say their final goodbyes after being told the worker will not regain brain function.

His mother, Catherine Ramsey, flew from Perth to be by her son’s side immediately after the accident. 7News She feels ‘numb’.

However, Ms Ramsey says she takes comfort in knowing her son is an organ donor and will be giving the gift of life to other Australians.

He previously told Daily Mail Australia that Mr Ramsey had suffered three bleeds on the brain (which required surgery) and a skull fracture.

“He is currently in a stable condition, but the full extent of the damage to his brain is unknown at this time,” he said.

‘He is still in a coma and we will not know what the final outcome will be until a few days from now.

‘All I know is that the damage is extensive and we don’t know if he’ll come out of the coma or if he’ll have lasting problems.

‘We’re holding on, we just feel numb right now.’

Mr Ramsey was on his way to watch a UFC fight with friends when the accident occurred.

Her mother previously told Nine News she would sell the family home to pay her medical bills if necessary.

“I just want to take him home, we’re in a strange country,” he said.

Doctors are still unsure of the extent of the damage done to his brain.

Mr. Ramsey had plans to buy property when he returned home.

At the time of this publication, over $120,000 has been raised.

Mr Ramsey had just completed a three-year apprenticeship and was excited about the future that lay ahead.

The carpenter’s former boss also took to Facebook on Monday to raise awareness about the fundraiser.

He remembered running into his former apprentice a few weeks ago.

“You forget how fucking fragile life can be (and) how quickly everything can change,” she wrote.
