The family of Perth carpenter Shane Ramsey (pictured) have revealed the horrific extent of his injuries after he crashed his moped while on holiday in Bali.

The family of a carpenter left in a coma after a horror moped accident while on holiday in Bali have revealed they face an anxious wait until the extent of the damage is known.

Shane Ramsey, 30, was riding a motorbike in Seminyak on his way to watch the UFC with friends on Sunday when disaster struck.

The Perth worker crashed into a pole and was rushed to hospital for treatment for a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain, blood in the lungs and severe brain damage.

He underwent emergency neurosurgery before being placed in a coma, where he is expected to remain for days to allow the intense brain swelling to subside.

Doctors are still unsure of the extent of the damage caused.

Mr Ramsey was in Bali to be best man at a friend’s wedding and had plans to buy a house when he returned home.

Ramsey’s mother, Catherine, was on a flight to Bali just hours after receiving the heartbreaking news to join her son’s friends at his hospital bedside.

“They’ve been friends since childhood, these kids haven’t left the hospital. They’ve been here 24/7, they’re an amazing group,” he said. 7News.

He added that his son “has done a lot of damage, there is no doubt about that.”

TO GoFundMe It was launched on Monday to help pay for Mr. Ramsey’s medical bills and a future medical evacuation home since he did not have travel insurance.

“The surgery alone costs $53,000 and each night in the hospital is an additional $9,000,” wrote organizer Amyleigh Mitchell.

The fundraiser also aims to help fund the $150,000 needed for an air ambulance to bring Mr. Ramsey back home when his condition improves.

Her mother was amazed by the support after raising more than $70,000 in 24 hours.

“I’m his mom, I love him no matter what, but to hear him be so selfless is amazing,” Ramsey said.

“We have received incredible messages and donations from people we don’t even know, people who even offered to fly to be with him.”

Mr Ramsey had just completed a three-year apprenticeship and was excited about the future that lay ahead.

The carpenter’s former boss also took to Facebook on Monday to raise awareness about the fundraiser.

He recalled running into his former apprentice a few weeks ago and described Mr Ramsey as a great guy.

“You forget how fucking fragile life can be (and) how quickly everything can change,” she wrote.
