‘Shaken’ Nicole Kidman shares heartfelt tribute amid devastating Hawaii fires that killed at least 80: ‘I have such love and connection to the island’
Nicole Kidman reacted to the devastating wildfires that are wreaking havoc in Hawaii.
The Honolulu-born Australian-born actress expressed her grief in an Instagram Story post on Sunday.
“I am shaken by the devastation in Hawai’i and feel so deeply the loss people are going through,” the 56-year-old wrote in black text.
‘I was born in Hawai’i and have such a love and connection to the island. My family and my mother share concern for all whose lives have been hurt and destroyed. she continued.
Nicole said she and her family have donated to charities that help with recovery efforts and encouraged her fans to do the same.

Nicole was born in Hawaii and given the Hawaiian name Hokulani which means “heavenly star” and was inspired by the name of a baby elephant born around the same time at the Honolulu Zoo.
Her family moved to their native Australia when Nicole was four, settling in Sydney.
It comes after the death toll in Hawaii’s wildfires reached 80, after the horrific inferno tore through the town of Lahaina, which is in Maui County.

The fires were fueled by a number of atmospheric elements – dry conditions, low humidity and 60mph wind gusts caused by Hurricane Dora – a Category 4 hurricane.
The winds were so strong that they destroyed power lines and damaged homes, CBS News reported.
The outlet reported that the US Coast Guard rescued 17 people who jumped into Lahaina Harbor as fires engulfed the town.
“There were no fire trucks at the time, I think the fire department was overwhelmed,” a Lahaina business owner told CBS News.
Hawaii Governor Josh Green said it appears a “bomb” went off after around 1,700 buildings were destroyed in the blaze.
