Ansgar Knauff will probably leave Borussia Dortmund for good in the summer. Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt can hope for a firm commitment from BVB on loan.
The cooperation between Borussia Dortmund and Ansgar Knauff will probably end at the end of the season. The winger is currently on loan from BVB to Bundesliga competitor Eintracht Frankfurt. The U21 national player should actually return to BVB in the summer.
But according to “Bild”, Dortmund “could not show the right winger the desired perspective”. Because of this, it could come to the final separation.
Eintracht Frankfurt would like to keep Knauff. According to the tabloid, there is a transfer fee of around five million euros. Knauff switched from BVB to SGE in winter 2022 and promptly won the Europa League with Frankfurt in the same season.
The 22-year-old now has to fight for his place in head coach Oliver Glasner’s team. Nevertheless, Eintracht Frankfurt would like to continue the relationship.
Eintracht Frankfurt or BVB? Knob remains vague
Knauff himself has presented himself diplomatically in recent months. He himself sees his situation as “relaxed”, the offensive man explained to the “kicker” in January. “The most important thing is the sporty aspect, which is also reflected in the decision to go on loan,” said Knauff at the time.
“Of course” the supporters of Eintracht Frankfurt should hope to see the youngster in the Adler jersey, confirmed Knauff. SGE and BVB are “both great clubs with fantastic fans and great stadiums,” praised the right winger, but: “I don’t know what’s going to happen from summer.”
Apparently, the decision could now be in favor of Eintracht Frankfurt. However, there has not yet been an official decision regarding Knauff’s sporting future.
