Sfaxien contracts with Al-Badri, the former coach of Al-Ahly and Egypt

Date:

Sfaxien, belonging to the Tunisian Football Premier League, announced the signing of Hossam El Badry, coach of Al-Ahly and the former Egypt national team, on Saturday.

Sfaxien’s account on “Facebook” stated: “Let’s all welcome our new coach, Hossam El Badry.” Welcome Coach to Green Tunisia. Welcome to the ancestral castle.

Sfaxien did not clarify the details of the contract, while a source close to the deal told Reuters that the agreement would extend until the end of next season.

Al-Badri, who achieved great success with Al-Ahly of Egypt, will take over the training of Sfaxien, succeeding coach Mauricio Yakubacchi, who was dismissed last month, and before Anis Boujelban occupied the position temporarily and then left due to pressure.

The last experience of the 62-year-old Egyptian coach was when he led Algeria’s ES Setif, but he left due to the club’s financial suffering last November.

Al-Badri was sacked from coaching the Egyptian national team in 2021 after he was criticized for poor performance, although he has not suffered any defeat since taking over in 2019.

Al-Badri trained his Al-Ahly club in three periods, and crowned him with the Egyptian Premier League three times and the 2012 CAF Champions League, among other titles.

Al-Badri also trained Al-Merikh Al-Sudanese and led him to win the local league title in 2011, and he led Al-Ahly in Tripoli, Libya, in 2013.

Sfaxien occupies sixth place in the coronation stage of the Tunisian League, with two points, and is seven points behind leaders Etoile du Sahel.
