But a new survey is finally revealing the sex lives of thousands of people around the world.
Researchers at Pour Moi have revealed the day and time of the week when couples are most likely to have sex.
Saturday is the favorite day for intimacy, with 10:09 pm being the sexiest time of the week.
“Weekend evenings seem to be the ideal time for people to feel more relaxed and ready to enjoy time with their partner,” said Marina Nicoli, Marketing Director at Pour Moi.

For the survey, Pour Moi recruited 2,000 adults from the UK, Ireland, the US and Canada who were either in a relationship, actively dating or sexually active.
Participants were surveyed about the specific days and times they typically have sex, as well as how often they get frisky.
The results revealed that Saturday is clearly the favourite day for intimacy, with 43 per cent of respondents saying that this is their preferred day.
They were followed by Friday (22 percent), Sunday (10 percent), Thursday (six percent), Wednesday (five percent), Tuesday (four percent) and Monday (two percent).
More than a third of respondents said they prefer to have sex between 10 p.m. and midnight, with 80 percent agreeing that the “ideal time” is specifically 10:09 p.m.
In terms of specific time, late evening hours were found to be predominant.

The second most popular time slot was between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. (27 percent).
In contrast, early morning was the least sexy time of the week: only four percent of respondents chose to have sex between 6:00 and 8:00.
‘Any time before 6:00 p.m. is generally considered the least raunchy time of day, and the least sexy time of the week is 1:02 p.m. on Monday,’ Pour Moi explained.
“So if you like to stop by the bedroom at lunchtime to start the week, you’re one of the most unique couples in the world.”
The survey also revealed how often people have sex.
Nearly half (48 percent) of respondents reported having sex once a week, while 19 percent said they have sex twice a week.
Meanwhile, only one percent of participants reported engaging in sexual activity daily.
‘IWhen asked how often adults would like to have sex, it was revealed that twice a week is the ideal amount of sex for most people,’ Pour Moi added.
‘Interestingly, women aged 25 to 45 are the ones with the highest desire for intimacy, stating that four times a week would be ideal, compared to twice a week for men in the same age group.’
