Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui has hailed Chelsea as the Premier League’s best offensive team ahead of the two sides’ meeting in Spain on Wednesday.

Lopetegui claimed before his team’s opening game in Group E at Stamford Bridge in October that Frank Lampard’s Blues were among the favorites for the Champions League title, and he hasn’t changed his mind.

Both sides have already qualified for the knockout stage and are competing to outdo the group, leaving Lopetegui excited by a rigorous scrutiny of his team’s credentials.

“It is a huge and exciting challenge against a team that could win the Champions League,” said the former Spanish coach.

They are the best offensive team in England right now, they have great players.

“It’s really exciting to play against them and it motivates us to do our best.”

Sevilla and Chelsea competed for a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge on October 20, with both sides winning their other two matches to cement their place in the last 16.

Lopetegui admitted that Sevilla should leave it to the last minute to judge their line-up given the stress of a compacted season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We want to keep working and growing as a team against a very strong opponent we need to beat at our best,” he added.

‘I see the team at work every day, they are doing their best despite the difficult season and the injuries we have. We have a number of absentees, but we make it. ‘
