Emergency services in Ireland are responding to a helicopter crash in Killucan, County Westmeath.
Westmeath Fire and Rescue Service Acting Chief Fire Officer Pat Hunt told Midlands radio station 103 FM there were a number of casualties in the incident.
He said all available resources are being sent to the scene of the incident.
“We understand this is an incident where a helicopter crashed into a building in the township of Joristown Upper in Killucan, Co Westmeath,” he said.
He added: ‘All major response agencies are mobilising to the scene – An Garda Siochana, the ambulance service and ourselves.
“What we can understand is that there are a number of victims involved, but again, we cannot confirm at this time the number.”
According to the Irish mirrorTwo people lost their lives in the incident.
The four-seater, single-engine plane is believed to have crashed into a building at around 3.30pm, but local reports have indicated that due to the nature of the accident, it has been difficult for emergency services to reach the victims.
