Borussia Dortmund could promptly confirm the first transfers for the coming season. That was what BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl said on the sidelines of the DFB Cup game at RB Leipzig (0: 2).
“I can say that we will gradually advance our personnel planning over the next few days,” said Kehl on the “Sky” microphone before the game, when asked about a possible signing of Borussia Mönchengladbach’s full-back Ramy Bensebaini. “I have a good feeling about some issues.”
Referring specifically to the Gladbach professional, whose move to BVB should be perfect according to media reports, Kehl explained: “I can only confirm that when we’re ready. There’s nothing more to say about it at the moment.”
Bensebaini could be the first external BVB signing for the summer. The rumors about a change from Borussia to Borussia have persisted for months. “Sky” recently reported that Kehl had sealed the transfer in final talks.
A transfer fee is not due for Bensebaini as his contract in Gladbach expires. It is unclear how long Bensebaini will sign with BVB and whether a bonus will be due.
BVB: What will happen to Marco Reus and Mats Hummels?
The 27-year-old Algerian national player switched from Stade Rennes to Gladbach in 2019 for around eight million euros. So far he has played 107 competitive games for the Fohlenelf with an outstanding record of 24 goals and seven assists for a nominal defender.
In addition to looking for external reinforcements, Kehl also has to resolve a number of internal personnel issues at BVB. The future of Mats Hummels and Marco Reus is still unclear. Your contracts are about to expire. “I don’t know how it will end yet,” said Kehl, referring to the talks with Reus.
Concrete negotiations with the Hummels side are to take place at a later date.
