Channel Seven financial journalist Gemma Acton has shared the painful moment her beloved mother stopped breathing.

The presenter shared some photos on Instagram on Monday, revealing ambulances were called over the weekend after her mother suffered a life-threatening allergic reaction.

One photo shows a downbeat-looking Gemma looking worriedly at the camera from the back of an ambulance and another shows paramedics entering her property.

“Saturday morning, I was at Mom and Dad’s. Mom went upstairs to get something…and a few minutes later Dad rushed downstairs and said, ‘Mom’s really not feeling well. You should come up,’ she wrote alongside pictures.

“I walked into a scene I didn’t expect. Mom barely breathing, unable to speak, ash gray, swollen blue lips… My fiance ran to help her and we juggled helping her with 000 communications.

Fortunately, paramedics arrived in time and were able to treat her mother before things got worse.

“In the darkest possible scenario, everything then went according to plan,” she added.

“Paramedics arrived within 8 minutes and were able to resuscitate and stabilize her after 40 minutes.”

Luckily, her fiancé Jack Dwyer (left) quickly called the paramedics.

“We now know everything except that his vital organs shut down after what would have been a fatal anaphylactic reaction without urgent professional help,” she added.

Gemma then said the incident happened after her mother took over-the-counter medication, warning her followers to be careful when doing the same.

“It was a standard over-the-counter painkiller for back pain and mom has never had an anaphylactic reaction to anything in her life thus far.”

In May, Gemma and her husband, English footballer Gary Cahill, celebrated the first birthday of their daughter, Olympia Rose.
