Serena Williams looks on great form as she shows off her backhand ahead of Wimbledon

Serena Williams looked in excellent shape on Saturday as she showed off her backhand during practice at London’s All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

The American tennis star, 40, also wore black tape on her face as she prepared to compete in the Wimbledon tennis tournament after winning a wild card in women’s singles.

Serena, who was forced to withdraw from the first round of the championships last year due to injury, wears medical tape on her face as it relieves the pressure and pain of her sinus problems.

And it looks like the sinus relief was definitely a good shout as she looked as ready as ever to take on her opponent at the prestigious tournament.

The star wore tennis whites for the practice session and paired a white Nike long sleeve top with a matching pleated tennis dress.

Serena teamed her look with white socks and trainers and shielded her eyes from the sun with a matching white visor.

The mother of one, who swept her curly locks into a high ponytail, was in high spirits when she was laughed off during her session on the track.

She was even seen walking around with a member of her team, who kindly applied sunscreen to her face.

The training session comes days after Serena captivated the crowd in Eastbourne on Tuesday night by teaming up with Ons Jabeur to win her first match since stumbling out of Wimbledon last year.

Williams was clearly delighted after scratching duo Sara Sorribes defeated Tormo and Marie Bouzkova 3-6 6-3 13-11 in a decisive tiebreak for the champions.

However, she didn’t want to look beyond her All England Club appointment next week, who are sure to feel more at ease after an excellent workout.

‘Oh my god, it was so much fun playing with Us. It was amazing. We had a lot of fun,” Williams said. “I take it literally day by day. I don’t make any decisions after this.

“I love tennis and playing, but I also love what I do off the court.”

She was hesitant about the many preparations she had made for this trip. “I’ve been working out a lot, my body feels amazing,” she added, after admitting she went “cold turkey” after being injured at SW19 a year ago.

Meanwhile, away from court, Serena and husband Alexis Ohanian glowed with pride when their daughter Olympia, four, hit another milestone earlier this month.

Alexis, co-founder of Reddit, posted a heartwarming family photo to Instagram, gushing, “First ballet recital for @olympiaohanian in the books.”

The sweet photo showed Alexis beaming as Serena rocked their little girl, who was still wearing her tutu from her big performance.

Olympia’s parents apparently showered her with praise after the recital, as they both wore bouquets in her honor.

The little tyke, whose full name is Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. is, celebrated her latest achievement with a ring dummy.
