Stars weren’t just celebrating their sporting achievements at the ESPY Awards on Thursday – they also showed off their classy side on the biggest night in sports.
The evening’s host, tennis superstar Serena Williams, 42, cut a glamorous figure in a fitted silver and black dress. The Grand Slam champion wore her light blonde locks in bouncy waves and accessorised with dangling earrings.
She was joined by her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, 41, and their six-year-old daughter, Alexis Olympia.
Serena is making history as the first African-American woman to host the event this year.
The ESPY Awards, which received criticism for its decision to honor Prince Harry with the Pat Tillman Award for service this year, is an acronym for the Annual Excellence in Sports Performance Awards. It is an annual awards show created by ESPN in 1993.

Prince Harry, 39, will also be honoured with the Pat Tillman Service Award for his work at the Invictus Games at the glittering event.
Tillman, a football star who gave up a multimillion-dollar contract to enlist in the U.S. Army after 9/11, saw his life tragically cut short at the age of 27 when he was killed by friendly fire while serving in Afghanistan 20 years ago.
Following the announcement that Prince Harry would receive the award, there was a lot of backlash, with many Americans calling for him to decline it.
Pat’s mother, Mary Tillman, has criticised the decision to give Prince Harry an award in honour of her late son, saying she was not consulted.
“I am surprised that they chose such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award,” he said.
“There are recipients who are much more suitable. There are people working in the veteran community who are doing tremendous things to help them.
“These people don’t have the money, the resources, the connections or the privileges that Prince Harry has. I think these kinds of people should be recognised.”
The Pat Tillman Award has previously been given to unsung heroes.
Last year, the award went to members of the Buffalo Bills football team’s coaching staff who revived a dying player on the field.
ESPN said Harry was being honoured for his “tireless work to make a positive impact on the veteran community through the power of sport” with his Invictus Games.
Colman Domingo, 54, showed off his laid-back style in vintage-inspired high-waisted Frey trousers, a matching grey silk shirt and a metallic coat.
A petition with more than 68,000 signatures has demanded that ESPN exclude Harry from the awards because he has been “embroiled in controversies that call into question his suitability to receive an honour of this magnitude.”
New Jersey resident Patti Mickel, who started the petition, said “the Pat Tillman Award should be representative of his values and should honor someone who, like Tillman, has demonstrated unwavering dedication to his team and his country.”
‘To award this honor to someone who does not reflect the intent of the award diminishes its value and disrespects Tillman’s memory.’
The ESPY Awards air live on ABC.
