Sunset’s Mary Fitzgerald revealed she underwent surgery after suffering a septic miscarriage in a new video, uploaded to her Instagram account on Friday night.
In the snaps, the 41-year-old reality star who is married to Romain Bonnet gives a devastating update on her fertility journey, which she says has been “tough.”
“I’m going to try to do this without crying,” she began, “it took me a few weeks to say everything that’s going on.” We already got pregnant. When I was on my mind, and I got pregnant, and unfortunately it didn’t work out,” the TV personality revealed to her 2.1+ million followers.
She continued, “On top of the miscarriage, I obviously had what they call a septic miscarriage, so I had to undergo surgery for that.”
The mother-of-one, who has an adult son named Austin from her previous marriage, went on to say that she knows how “common this is” and that it’s not “easy.”

“I needed a minute because there are so many eyes on me, and everyone is judging, and everything,” she said. It was tough, to say the least. But there is still hope.
Fitzgerald then explained that she would continue to share her journey and that they would continue to “try” and that they would have “very good news soon.”
In her caption, the realtor explained that trying to conceive “isn’t always sunshine and butterflies” and wanted to remind others that they “are not alone.”

According to the website, unfortunately, not much can be done to prevent a miscarriage, aside from seeking regular prenatal care, taking a daily multivitamin, limiting your caffeine intake and avoiding other known miscarriage risk factors.
