The idea of a hotel room on wheels may seem like a concept straight out of the latest sci-fi hit.
But it could soon become a reality, if we are guided by the latest concept.
Xoio researchers aim to make long, boring car trips a thing of the past with the ‘Swift Pod’.
The futuristic vehicle concept features a large sleeping pod where two travelers can sleep while being driven on their journey.
And if you fancy a midnight snack, there’s no need to stop at the amenities – the car will even provide you with snacks and drinks!

The Swift Pod is based on the simple idea of traveling long distances at a “reasonable speed” while sleeping.
“We have always been fascinated by night trains and the nostalgic magic of the idea of waking up at your destination after a (fairly) restful sleep,” Xoio explained in a blog post.
The vehicle features a futuristic triangular design.
“We chose to stick with the iconic triangular shape to emphasize how little would be needed to achieve a sustainable means of transportation for long distances,” the team said.

While traveling, passengers can choose to sit upright or lie down on the “comfortable” bed.

If you’re not in a big hurry, you can also implement layovers for breaks. “The Pod system offers a range of attractive and constantly updated locations to choose from,” added Xoio.
“Along with a complete multimedia system, small snacks and drinks are part of the experiences,” said Xoio.
Passengers can request a vehicle online, entering the desired destination and time.
A navigation system would then autonomously calculate the speed needed to reach the desired target in time.
“It’s amazing how far you can travel at night at environmentally friendly speeds, especially when traffic is low,” Xoio said.
