Selena Gomez has responded to critics by telling haters to “f*** off” after revealing she can’t have children of her own due to “medical issues.”
The 32-year-old Only Murders In The Building actress, who recently shared a tender moment with her goddaughter following her loss at the 2024 Emmys, could be seen giving her response to critics in a Clip now viral on X while attending a Women in Film event.
In the video, the singer came to her own defense about being “vulnerable” when it came to talking about her own health and asking for “help.”
“I really believe there’s power in being vulnerable and telling people when you need help and want help,” Gomez said as she sat at a table next to her younger sister, Gracie.
“That’s not shameful. Yes, I told you I can’t have children. Yes, I told you I have bipolar disorder. Fuck you!”

Following her comments, Selena received cheers and applause from the other attendees inside the room.
The star also explained that she wants to “be an advocate for women and that’s why I share, that’s why I like to be honest, because we’re all going through something.”
Gomez added candidly: “I don’t have it all together. I’m not, you know, whatever. I’m me, and that’s all I can be.”
“So, don’t ever let anyone tell you that you’re not a good person,” the former Disney Channel actress said as she turned and placed a hand on her sister’s shoulder.
Towards the end of the clip, Selena said, “So fuck anyone who tells you that you’re a victim. To me, you’re a survivor.”
His response comes shortly after the star’s interview with From Vanity Fair October issue earlier this month.
While speaking to the outlet, Gomez revealed that she is unable to have children of her own due to health issues that prevent her from doing so.
“I’ve never said it, but unfortunately I can’t bear my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s life at risk. It was something I had to regret for a while.”

The star further explained that she wants to “be an advocate for women and that’s why I share, that’s why I like to be honest, because everyone is going through something”; spotted earlier this month in Telluride, Colorado.
However, Selena expressed that she still wants to be a mother one day. “It’s not necessarily how I imagined it. I thought it would happen like it happens to everyone else.”
“I’m in a much better place in that regard. I consider it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to offer surrogacy or adoption, which are two huge possibilities for me.”
The actress added: “It made me feel so grateful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be mothers. I’m one of those people. I’m excited about what that journey will be like, but it will be a little different.”
And whether she becomes a mother through surrogacy or adoption, Selena said the child will remain hers.
“At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’s going to be mine. It’s going to be my baby,” the Wolves singer told Vanity Fair.
Gomez had previously expressed her desire to be a mother in the future and earlier this year in May, she revealed that she had plans to adopt a child once she turned 35 prior to her relationship with Benny Blanco.
While attending the Time 100 Most Influential Companies event, the star explained: “I was single for five years and I really got used to it.”
‘A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for about two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it.’
Gomez has previously expressed her desire to be a mother, revealing earlier this year in May that she had plans to adopt a child once she turned 35 ahead of her relationship with Benny Blanco, spotted earlier this month in Toronto.
“Then I came up with my plan, which was to adopt at 35 if I hadn’t met anyone,” the interpreter said.
Gomez and Blanco’s romance was confirmed late last year in December, and since then, the couple has shared snippets of their relationship on social media.
The record producer also previously stated that having children is his “next goal” in The Howard Stern Show In May.
At one point, Stern said he predicted they would get married in the future, and Blanco responded, “You and me… I gotta get my act together!”
Stern also asked: “When are you proposing to her? You should announce it now. When are you proposing to your famous girlfriend Selena?”
And Blanco replied: “When I look at her… I always think: I don’t know a world where it can be better than this.”
She went on to gush, “People always tell me this, when you know you meet your best friend, she really is my best friend,” adding that Selena is “the coolest, the kindest, the sweetest…”
Elsewhere in the interview, the songwriter spoke about his desire to have a family in the future. “It’s like my next goal. I have a lot of God’s children, I have a lot of nephews and nieces. It’s my thing, I love being around kids!”
The record producer also previously stated that having children is his “next goal” on The Howard Stern Show in May.
Along with her recent interview with Vanity Fair, Selena has also been open about her bipolar disorder diagnosis.
In May, she appeared on Hoda Kotb’s show. Creating Space Podcast and expressed that she felt ‘freedom’ after speaking publicly about her story.
“I think life can get very confusing and there’s a lot of noise. Titles don’t scare me anymore because I claimed my own story. I told my own story and I felt free from it.”

She had been nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, an award that went to Jean Smart for her role in Hacks.
