Selena Gomez has revealed she ‘can’t have children’ due to medical reasons.
The 32-year-old Lose You to Love Me hitmaker, who recently wowed a Colorado high school volleyball team, said Vanity Fair on Monday she had to ‘regret’ her inability to become a mother naturally.
“I’ve never said this,” she told the publication, “but unfortunately I can’t carry my own children.”
“I have a lot of medical issues that could put my life and the baby’s life at risk. It was something I had to grieve for a while.
Although her path to motherhood “will look different,” the actress insists she wants to be one someday.

She told the outlet: “It’s not necessarily how I imagined it. I thought it would happen like it happens to everyone.”
‘I’m in a much better place in that regard. I consider it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to offer surrogacy or adoption, which are two huge possibilities for me.
“It made me feel so grateful that there are other outlets for people who are dying to become mothers. I’m one of those people. I’m excited about what that journey will be like, but it will be a little different,” she said.
Selena expressed that through surrogacy or adoption, her child will be ‘mine.’
“In the end, I don’t care. It’s going to be mine. It’s going to be my baby,” she said.
The Wizards of Waverly Place star had emphasized her firm desire to be a mother at 35 even before dating her current partner, music producer Benny Blanco.
“Before I met my boyfriend, I was single for five years, with the exception of a few dates. And I was like, ‘Well, if this is the wave, what’s most important to me? Family,'” she shared about her plans.
She and the 36-year-old, who produced her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber’s 2021 hit Lonely, began privately dating in mid-2023.
Blanco recently expressed his desire to have children with Selena while on The Howard Stern Show.
“That’s my next goal: to achieve my goal. I love being around children,” he said.
