Former New Zealand rugby star Keven Mealamu has revealed his health battle after sharing footage of his sickening collapse while working out at the gym.

Mealamu was working out at the gym he owns with his wife Latai when he collapsed, hitting his head against the wall after initially stumbling to the ground.

The incident occurred during a group training session and other gym users rushed to the aid of the 130-match Test veteran after noticing he was in trouble.

The worrying incident occurred amid a two-year health battle for the 45-year-old, who was first diagnosed with a heart condition in 2022.

Mealamu shared snaps of himself with Latai in hospital as he was receiving treatment for a health issue before sharing the gym images that have rocked the footballing world.

“Don’t worry about anything, pray for everything,” read the caption of his post.

‘Grateful for the lessons and blessings, love and learnings.

“Thank you for all your good wishes.”

Several of his former All Blacks teammates including Ma’a Nonu, Piri Weepu, Tana Umaga and Sama Cane sent their best wishes to Mealamu following his upgrade.

He had to pull out of a boxing fundraiser in 2022 after a routine medical check-up showed an undiagnosed heart problem, and an ECG test confirmed Mealamu’s irregular heartbeat.

It was later confirmed that he suffers from a heart condition called atrial fibrillation, which can lead to heart failure and stroke.

Last year he was hospitalized again due to heart problems.

Latai shared a photo of herself holding Mealamu’s hand two days ago and said on Tuesday that they were celebrating their 25th anniversary.

Mealamu represented the All Blacks from 2002 to 2015, winning the Rugby World Cup twice.

The former hooker was known for his tough approach to the game and no-nonsense approach.
