Waukee fire brigade and police responded to a report of an explosion around 5:30 pm. Sunday in the 32000 block of Ute Avenue in the Dallas County countryside, city officials announced in a press release.

The eruption would have shaken homes more than two miles away and blown out the windows of a neighboring house.

When officers arrived on the scene, Captain Tomme Tysdal of the Waukee fire department said they spoke to the owners of the property and confirmed that the explosion was part of an announcement of the gender statement.

The kit contains a target that, once shot by a firearm, explodes in a cloud of colored dust – pink tones for a girl, or blue for a boy.

Although no one has been injured, Tysdal says he would not recommend people to use such kits or other explosives due to the danger.

Just 24 hours before the explosion in Dallas County, 56-year-old Pamela Kreimeyer was killed in a similar explosion while participating in an announcement of the gender statement in the Knoxville countryside.

Kreimeyer was hit by shrapnel from a homemade pipe bomb that her family built to shoot out colored powder.

& # 39; Instead of the gunpowder shooting the powder from the top of the stand, the stand exploded causing metal pieces to fly.

& # 39; One of these metal pieces struck Pamela Kreimeyer in the head and immediately caused death. She and other family members were about 45 feet from the device. It is believed that the missile that struck the victim when another 144 meters came through the air and came to rest in a field. & # 39;

In audio obtained by KCCI you can hear an operator saying to authorities: & # 39; You are needed … a pipe explosion that has hit a woman in the head. & # 39;

Sheriff Jason Sandholdt said: “This family came together for what they thought would be a happy event without the intention of anyone getting hurt.

& # 39; What finally happened was that Pamela Kreimeyer, a wife, mother, and grandmother were killed by a piece of metal that involved a metal stand, gunpowder, and colored powder.

& # 39; This is a reminder that when someone mixes these things, there is great potential for serious injury or death; please do not take these unnecessary risks. My condolences go to the family. & # 39;
