Police are searching for an electric scooter driver who allegedly took off after colliding with a 10-year-old boy.

The boy was traveling on the Cliff Road Tramway in Wollongong on March 31 when the accident occurred about 7.40pm.

The boy was treated by paramedics and taken to Sydney’s Westmead Children’s Hospital with serious head injuries.

The electric scooter driver initially stopped at the scene, but CCTV shows him appearing to drive away before police arrive.

Police would like to speak to the driver of the electric scooter who was seen leaving the scene.

He is described as being of Indian appearance, of medium build and short black hair. He was wearing a black shirt and black pants.
