Potential Everton buyer John Textor has reportedly set his sights on signing manager Abel Ferreira if his takeover bid is successful, according to The sun.
Textor, an American businessman, is said to admire the Portuguese coach, who guided Palmeiras to the Brazilian league title last season.
Ferreira is said to have come to Textor’s attention after the 58-year-old observed his training methods first-hand through his Botafogo property in Rio, which is part of his Eagle Football Holdings group.
However, Ferreira’s contract runs until the end of next year and would require severance pay, although this is not deterring Textor from moving forward, according to The sun.
As Textor works to secure the Everton deal, he is also in the process of selling his stake in Crystal Palace, with fellow American investors Josh Harris and David Blitzer showing interest in acquiring them.

Textor has shown a keen eye for managerial talent, having played a key role in Oliver Glasner’s appointment at Crystal Palace.
Glasner, who succeeded Roy Hodgson in February, helped the team to seven wins from 13 games, resulting in a top-half finish in the Premier League.
However, Everton have endured a difficult start to the 2024-2025 season, having conceded 10 goals in three consecutive defeats.
Heavy defeats to Brighton and Tottenham were followed by a dramatic collapse against Bournemouth, where Everton squandered a 2-0 lead in the dying minutes to lose 3-2.
Poor form has left Everton languishing at the bottom of the table, and while Dyche’s past achievements have earned him some goodwill, time is running out for him to turn things around.
His determination to take over Everton is likely to increase the pressure on current manager Sean Dyche, who, despite keeping the club afloat last season, has started poorly this term.
Dyche’s only win so far this season has come in the Carabao Cup against League Two club Doncaster, securing a third-round tie against Southampton later this month.
