A senior military officer allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend and shot three people in a Brazilian church before he was shot down by the police.
Lieutenant Colonel Rudson Aragão Guimarães, 39, was said to have been high on drugs Tuesday night when he launched his massacre in Paracatu in southeast Brazil.
Witnesses claimed that the accused, described as & # 39; disturbed and incoherently speaking & # 39; the church invaded and shouted that he & # 39; had returned from hell and had a mission to fulfill & # 39 ;.
Police patrolling the area shot the suspect in the coffin before being taken to the hospital. Agents claimed he still had six bullets left and seemed to use them to kill others.
These churchgoers in Paracatu, southeast Brazil, were in a prayer circle before alleged shooter Rudson Aragão entered Guimarães
He opened fire on the group as they fled and killed three church members. The pastor, Evandro Rama, survived the attack, but broke his ankle by jumping through a wall while leaving the shooter

The victims, three women and one man, are named as the accused's ex-partner, Heloísa Vieira, 59, and church members, Rosangela Albernaz, 50, a restaurant owner; Marilene Neves, 52, a grandmother and a dinner lady and retired Antonio Rama, 67, the father of the minister of the Shalom Baptist Church.
The predecessor, Evandro Rama, survived the attack, but broke his ankle by jumping through a wall while leaving the shooter.
Moments for storming the church, Guimarães is said to have stabbed his former girlfriend in the neck with a penknife in his mother's house.
The victim visited her ex-boyfriend's family when he arrived and was apparently attacked without warning.
It is thought that he left the crime scene on foot and goes to the chapel where security cameras & # 39; s see him arriving around 6.45 pm.
According to agents, the date on the & # 39; s camera on which 20 May stood was wrong due to a programming error.
Guimarães allegedly had six more rounds in his weapon, pictured, that he intended to use before agents shot him

He sees the doors of the front door forcing, breaking a metal panel in the process and entering the building, apparently waving a 36-gauge gun and shouting that he had come to kill the predecessor.
Lieutenant Colonel Luiz Magalhães, Paracatu military police, said: & We are still unclear about the motive of the attacks. According to Rudson & # 39; s family members there had been no disagreement between him and his former girlfriend.
& # 39; But when he arrived at his mother's house, he seemed to be in a strange state of mind and suddenly became angry and rammed (Heloísa) in the neck with a penknife for no apparent reason. & # 39;
The victim, who worked as a course leader for various companies, immediately died. The mother and sister of the suspect were unharmed.
The Chief Commissioner said: & (39) (Rudson) then went to the Shalom Baptist Church and broke open the doors that were locked.
& # 39; The attendees told us that he seemed disoriented and irrevocably walked around and shouted that he had come out of hell with a mission to achieve that, including killing the minister. & # 39;
Video footage taken in the church shows a group of about 20 parishioners, with children present, in a prayer circle at the front.
They spread as the suspect enters and the pastor, who apparently had previously been threatened by the accused, runs off.
Lieutenant Colonel Luiz Magalhães said about Guimarães (photo): & Everything seems to indicate that this was a psychotic outbreak. Officers shot the suspect to protect other people in the church & # 39;
Officers neutralized the suspect with a single bullet on the chest and hit him just below his collarbone
Two of the victims were reportedly shot at random as they tried to escape before a passing gunfire patrol car responded quickly.
The third victim was taken hostage by the accused when the officers arrived, but shot in the head before negotiations for her release could begin.
Officers neutralized the suspect with a single bullet on the chest and hit him just below his collarbone.
Brazilian media Correio Brazilense reported that the military man, who served in the Air Force, complained that he heard voices and had been to church before, but may have been excluded due to alleged drug problems and erratic behavior.
Lt. Col Magalhães said: & Everything seems to indicate that this was a psychotic outbreak.
& # 39; Officers shot the suspect to protect other people in the church. There were still about 20 on the scene and he had six more rounds intact. If they had not arrived on time, the situation could have been much worse. & # 39;
Investigators said they ruled out a crime of passion that the former girlfriend had wrongly linked to the pastor in previous reports.
They are now investigating the relationships between the accused and the victims.
Detective Marcelo Santos told Brazilian media G1: & # 39; Witnesses said the predecessor had been threatened by (Rudson) for a while. Our line of research is to find out why there seem to be disagreements and why he created these threats. & # 39;
The accused underwent emergency surgery in which doctors said he had sustained two cardiac arrests. He has been admitted to critical care in intensive care.
Lawyers for the accused were asked for a comment, but none came.
