Scott Barnett, 45, walked into a Baltimore police station on Sunday saying he wanted to confess to two 2014 murders

A Maryland man walked into a Baltimore police station claiming he committed a double murder 10 years ago.

Scott Barnett, 45, entered the Southeast District police station on Sunday and told officers he wanted to confess to two murders he and the mother of his child, Ashlie Barnett, committed in 2014, Baltimore police announced.

He said he did not remember the names of the victims, but based on information provided by Barnett, homicide detectives were able to determine their identities as Charles Webster, 46, and Terrill Lehman, 41, both of whom were reported missing in December 2014. reports the Baltimore Banner.

Barnett alleged that he and Ashlie shared a home with the victims around November 2014, and said Webster would “extort money and drugs” from them for living in the house.

One day when Webster and Lehman were high on drugs, Barnett said he and Ashlie stabbed them in the neck and stomach, according to police records obtained by the Banner.

He said they then grabbed a shower curtain and dragged the bodies to the basement, where he and Ashlie lived, and dismembered them with saws.

From there, Barnett claimed that he and Ashlie “double bagged” the body parts and threw them away in nearby trash cans.

He said he then cleaned out the house and threw away the tools and knives containing the body parts, which police never recovered.

Barnett said Ashlie has since died, and officers were able to confirm she died by drowning in June 2022 while intoxicated on fentanyl, cocaine and methadone.

After his confession, police went to work identifying his victims.

When they then showed him a photo of Lehman, police say he confirmed it was the woman he killed.

When officers then showed him a photo of Webster, Barnett allegedly wrote underneath it, “I killed him,” the Banner reports.

Barnett, who told officers he was homeless, has a previous record of assault and theft.

He last pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in Baltimore County in 2023 and received a three-year suspended sentence.

Barnett was also convicted of second-degree assault in 2019 and received a three-year prison sentence with all but 18 suspended.

In that case, two people claimed they saw him drag Ashlie along the ground by her hair as she cried and screamed for help, according to records obtained by the Banner.

She was bleeding from her nose and lip, but tried to tell officers that Scott was not responsible.

Ashlie later testified that she started a fight with Scott after taking his wallet so she could get drugs.

Jurors were deadlocked twice in the case, but a judge instructed them to continue deliberating and Scott was ultimately convicted.

He is now being held without bond on two murder charges, and court records show he has waived his right to an attorney at a bail review.
