Scarlett Johansson, 36, reveals she felt typecast in ‘hypersexualized’ roles in her teens by ‘a bunch of dudes’ in Hollywood
Scarlett Johansson felt “hypersexual” as a teenager working in Hollywood.
The 36-year-old actress made her breakthrough as an adult actress as Charlotte in the 2003 film Lost in Translation at age 18, but had her first starring role as Manny in Manny & Lo at age 12.
The star said she felt typecast in certain roles in her teens and into her early 20s, telling The sun“When I was working in my early 20s, and even my late teens, I felt like I was somehow being labeled as hypersexualized, which I think seemed okay to everyone at the time.

“Even though it wasn’t part of my own story, it was probably made for me by a bunch of guys in the industry.”
However, she emphasizes that “the climate is so different now” and that there are “so many wonderful opportunities for women” in Hollywood today.
Her breakthrough role came at age 19 when she co-starred with Bill Murray in the critically acclaimed film Lost In Translation. She is now one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
Scarlett married Colin Jost, 39, last year in a scaled-down ceremony at her home in the New York hamlet of Palisades in October.
Changing times: While admitting things are different these days, Scarlett told The Sun, “Even though it wasn’t part of my own story, it was probably made for me by a bunch of guys in the industry.” (Pictured in the 2001 movie Ghost World, released when she was 16)
Earlier this month Page six claimed that Scarlett was expecting a baby, but neither she nor Colin has confirmed that much.
In an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers the Black Widow star talked about the quirky “party favor” she and her new husband gave their guests.
Colin is currently hosting Weekend Update on NBC’s Saturday Night Live – a role previously played by Seth attending Scarlett’s last wedding.

She said with a smile that the mask was “definitely a weird party favor that could only happen now, but you just have to go for it.”
As a result, Seth was one of the lucky people to get a ‘Jost 2020’ mask, which Scarlett admitted was ‘just weird looking at the pictures’.
Scarlett’s first marriage was to Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Reynolds whom she tied the knot in 2008 but divorced in 2011.
Looking back: Scarlett Johansson gushed this week on Late Night With Seth Meyers about her ‘beautiful’ and ‘intimate’ pandemic marriage to Colin Jost
The following year, she contacted French advertising manager Romain Dauriac, who became her second husband and the father of her daughter Dorothy, six.
Scarlett and Romain married in 2014 but broke up in 2016 and she began dating Colin in mid-2017 while she was still in the process of divorcing her previous husband.
Meanwhile, Colin, who first met Scarlett on the set of Saturday Night Live in 2006, had never been married last October.
