“It’s one of the best sequels in the franchise. Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith are excellent. In my opinion, this should be the end of Saw. A great way to come full circle.
Bell’s character, John Kramer, died of a terminal illness in Saw III. However, the Saw films continued without him thanks to the apprentices he had selected before his death.
Therefore, fans did not expect Bell to be part of another franchise, much to their disappointment.
Producer Oren Koules admitted they had put themselves in an awkward position.
“Look, we’re the idiots who killed after Saw III,” he said. THIS. “(But) how long can we suspend disbelief when the man has terminal cancer?”

“I think Tobin easily has more screen time in this movie than in the last five or six movies combined,” Koules co-producer Mark Burg told the outlet. “He opens the movie, he goes through the whole movie, and he finishes the movie.”
Director Greutert also revealed that Bell was just as involved in the creative process.
“He was very involved with the script, he was involved in post-production, he even came up with additional dialogue after the filming of the film that we incorporated into the story,” he told EW.
He also added that Bell “makes the rules in a way, because he’s very deep into John Kramer’s character and channels himself in a way. Not that he has a dark side like that, but as an artist.
He added: “He has an integrity that is really recognizable in the character of John Kramer. If he thinks we’re doing something that violates the character’s history and the entire Saw saga, he’ll let us know that he thinks it should be different. And he is always right in this regard.
