Don’t talk about my mother! Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez explains how Caleb Plant’s family mess led to their on-stage punch-up…warning the American ‘you don’t want to fight me now’

- Alvarez warned Plant he wouldn’t ‘want to fight me’ after the incident
Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has revealed that he gave Caleb Plant a push and then argued with the American during their first press conference for making a comment about the Mexican’s mother.
The shocking scene ensued on Tuesday as the fighters took to the stage to promote their upcoming super-middleweight unification at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada on Nov. 6.
Alvarez seemed annoyed by something Plant said and pushed the American, who aimed a punch back at Canelo. The stage then descended into violence as both boxers went for each other and their respective teams and security intervened to stop the chaotic scene.

Plant then struck back and the two fighters got into a scuffle during a press conference
Footage later emerged of Plant’s wounds during the brawl with a nasty cut under his right eye
Alvarez, the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world, explained afterwards why the incident happened.
The Mexican said, “You can say anything to me, but not to my mother. I’m going to fight anyone who says anything about my mother. And he waved first. I just pushed him. He waved first and I do what I do. He crossed the line.’
The fight promises to be a blockbuster, with 31-year-old Canelo the holder of the WBA, WBC, WBO and The Ring super middleweight titles. Plant, 29, is undefeated and has held the IBF title since 2019.
Canelo, still clearly seething at Plant’s comment, however, was in no mood to recognize the American’s threat in the ring.
“You (Plant) are not on my level and you will see on November 6. You don’t want to fight now, I promise you,’ he said.
“It’ll be over in eight laps or less. I’m going to knock this man out. Simple.
“Caleb may be on the same level as Billy Joe Saunders and Callum Smith, but he’s not on my level. I respect that he’s not here to back off. You can see from today that this is definitely going to be a good fight.”
A win would make Canelo the undisputed super middleweight champion. Sweet Hands Plant is currently 21-0, with 12 knockouts, while Alvarez has 56 wins from 59 fights, with 38 by knockout.
Canelo said Plant was ‘not on my level’ and that he would take him out ‘in eight rounds or less’
“I know what to do and I know a lot about him,” Alvarez said. “He’s a good fighter, but I know my skills. My experience will give me an edge in battle.
“He’s an insecure person and that’s why he came up with a lot of excuses about a lot of things. I don’t care, though. I’m just going to do my best on November 6 and win the fight.
“Being undisputed is history for Mexico and for everyone on my team. Being the undisputed champion is just great for my career.”
