Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo finally scored his first goal at the stadium of his team, Al-Nasr, to lead him to a 2-1 victory over Abha on Saturday, March 18, 2023, and keep him a point away from the leaders Al-Ittihad, who swept its host Al-Fateh 5-1, in the competitions of the twenty-first stage of the Saudi Football League.

Al-Nasr gave up the lead in the last stage, after falling to Al-Ittihad in particular, 1-0, so that the latter rose to it, a point behind its chaser.

Ronaldo, 38, raised his tally to 9 goals in the league since his arrival at the beginning of the year after terminating his contract with Manchester United, but this was his first at Marsol Park.

And he achieved this from a wonderful long-range free kick, low to the right of the goalkeeper in the 78th minute, paving the way for the victory, which was snatched by Brazilian Anderson Talisca from a late penalty kick (86), after Abha advanced in the first half through Abdel Fattah Adam (26).

This match came four days after the two teams faced each other in the quarter-finals of the King’s Cup on Tuesday, and ended with a 3-1 victory, without registering the “Don” who came with a fictional deal to the capital team.

Al-Nasr raised its score to 49 points, behind Al-Ittihad, with a point, nine stages before the end of the season.

The last few meters promise excitement between Al-Nasr, who aspires to the first title in the league since 2019, and Al-Ittihad since 2009, amidst also the lurking of Al-Shabab, who is six points behind the leaders.
