Sauce Gardner has sparked fears among Jets fans that the team is a victim of the ‘Drake Curse’ after he posted a photo with the rapper.
The cornerback, who is entering his third season after two All-Pro campaigns, shared a photo with himself, Odell Beckham Jr. and the Canadian hitmaker on X on Thursday.
And some Jets fans were concerned about Gardner’s association with Drake, as the rapper is known for cursing the players and teams he supports.
‘Bro bro, stay away from Drake, he’s a curse to all franchises,’ one fan saying under Gardner’s X-post.
“The Jets’ season was over before it started now,” another saying.

The cornerback later posted a message to X to calm Jets fans’ fears about the ‘Drake Curse.’
In response to Jets fans’ concerns, Gardner himself said, “I told Drake he should bet on the other 31 teams every week.” “Calm down, Jets fans… we’re fine.”
Drake is notoriously an extremely high-stakes sports bettor and has lost some big bets, although his gambling has also seen some big wins.
For example, he won $1.38 million betting on Gervonta Davis to beat Ryan Garcia last year.
The ‘Drake Curse’, then, refers more to his actual fandom for the teams.
Sauce Gardner has been brilliant for the Jets since he was drafted by the team in 2022.
After declaring that he was rooting for Alabama to win the 2019 national championship, the Crimson Tide lost to Clemson, while his favorite college basketball team, Kentucky, has not won a national championship since 2012.
Drake was also introduced by Conor McGregor for the weigh-in ahead of his fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018 (which McGregor would lose). FanDuel noted, and the rapper also watched Johnny Manziel fail in the NFL after mentioning him in the song ‘Draft Day.’
However, Drake’s hometown Toronto Raptors won a title in 2019.
