Low-income older people have until this Saturday to submit a Pension Credit application to receive a Winter Fuel Payment worth up to £300.
Up to 880,000 people could miss out on more than £3,900 a year from the benefit that allows low-income pensioners to claim expenses including fuel and housing.
Only those who successfully claim for the qualifying week of September 16-22 will receive a payment, but claims can go back up to three months.
Pensioners no longer automatically receive the winter fuel payment after Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ controversial decision to make the benefit means-tested earlier this year.
You can check if you may be eligible by using the online calculator (gov.uk/pension-credit-calculator) or by calling 0800 99 1234.
