Channel 10 axed variety show Saturday Night Rove last week after just two episodes, opted to air a repeat of Shrek 2 on Saturday instead.

And unfortunately for Rove McManus, the animation film from Dreamworks, which was released 15 years ago in 2004, scores higher than its last episode.

Last Saturday, only 138,000 agreed to see Rove, so it was canceled, with his replacement Shrek 2 pulling an impressive 157,000 this week.

TV tonight editor David Knox revealed the figures on Sunday morning, but explained that it was no reason to party for Channel 10.

& # 39; For those who are wondering if they are comparing the Saturday of 10 without Rove … this is not as easy as AFL and Cricket were in play this week & # 39 ;, he started.

& # 39; [But] the total share of 10 therefore fell Saturday. Shrek 2 was 157k which is higher than Rove’s 138k. & # 39;

On Monday, Channel 10 confirmed that the Saturday Night Rove variety show had already been canceled after two episodes.

Following Shrek 2, TV Tonight claimed last week that other films, including Sister Act and The Notebook, will also play instead of Rove in the coming weeks.

The new schedule came one day after host Rove confirmed that his new show had been canceled after it could not protect more than 140,000 viewers on Saturday.

& # 39; It was clear that we were looking at the figures that the audience that we hoped would find a live show with free walking on Saturday night was simply not there & # 39 ;, Rove said in a statement to TV Tonight

& # 39; We talked to 10 today and we both mentioned it. The opportunity to play live again for Australia was fun, however short.

& # 39; And I would like to thank my wonderful fellow stars, the behind-the-scenes team and everyone in 10 who came behind Saturday Night Rove. & # 39;
