Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed that Arsenal have indeed made an offer to sign Manuel Locatelli after coming out as one of the tournament’s players at Euro 2020.

Locatelli enjoyed a sensational European Championship with Italy, beating England in a dramatic final on penalties at Wembley, and immediately some of Europe’s biggest clubs took note of the 23-year-old.

The Gunners are one of the clubs closely monitoring Locatelli’s situation alongside Serie A giant Juventus and his agent recently revealed Mikel Arteta’s men had put in a £34million bid.

Now Sassuolo’s chief has confirmed this, while also showing interest from another Premier League side. However, Juventus remain Locatelli’s No. 1 destination and they have finally scheduled talks over a deal for Friday.

Carnevali then warned Locatelli’s suitors that they shouldn’t leave it too late in the transfer window to make their switch or they won’t sell him as they wouldn’t have time to find a replacement.

Speak with Gazzetta dello Sport, the chief executive said: ‘We are waiting for the right offer for Locatelli… if it doesn’t come, he will stay here.

“We are not going to sell our best players later in August.”

Juventus are firmly in the saddle for Locatelli’s signature given his desire to move to Turin this summer.

Locatelli is also at the top of Juve’s shopping list and they are hoping to get one step closer to acquiring his services after speaking with Sassuolo, who wants compensation in the region of what Arsenal have offered.
