MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will provide cash assistance to sari-sari store owners affected by the implementation of imposed price ceilings on plain and well-milled rice.
This was done on the orders of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the Presidential Communications Office said in a statement on Sunday.

DSWD said the cash distribution will take place from September 25 to 29.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Trade and Industry will be directed to identify sari-sari store owners eligible for the cash support.

There is no information yet on the amount of support to be provided and the intended number of beneficiaries.
At the time of writing, the DSWD has already released P92.415 million in financial support to 6,161 of the 8,390 targeted micro and small rice retailers affected by the price cap.
