Sarah Paulson’s Linda Tripp hopes for ‘hero’ status in new Impeachment: American Crime Story teaser

FX Networks tweeted a 15-second teaser for Impeachment: American Crime Story on Wednesday that reveals the true motivation behind former Defense Department whistleblower Linda Tripp.

“Very soon the country will find out about a friend of mine,” said Tripp, smugly played by Emmy winner Sarah Paulson.

‘A lot of people are going to say a lot about me. They can call me a hero.’

Beanie Feldstein portrays Linda’s frenemy and White House intern Monica Lewinsky in the 10-episode third season of the anthology series, which premieres next Tuesday.

Tripp famously took her candid phone calls with Lewinsky in 1997 and confessed to her two-year affair with President Bill Clinton, which led to his impeachment.

In the 30 second teaser released Tuesday, Linda asks Monica to tell her “everything” about her “mysterious boyfriend” at the White House.

The preview then went to Clive Owen as Clinton touched Lewinsky’s face in the Oval Office and reassured her, “You’ll be fine. Nobody knows about this.’

“It’s very hard for me to talk about this without feeling like I’m making excuses. There’s a lot of controversy around actors and fat suits, and I think that controversy is legitimate,” the Tampa-born 46-year-old told the Los Angeles Times.

“I would like to believe that there is something in my being that entitles me to play this role. And that the magic of hair and makeup departments and clients and cinematographers that has been part of making movies and suspending faith since the invention of cinema. Should I say no? [to the part]? This is the question.’

Paulson continued, “I think what I think most about is the fact that I regret not thinking more deeply about it. And that’s important for me to think about and think about. I also know it’s a privileged place to think and think about it because I’ve already been allowed to do it and had an opportunity that no one else had.

‘You can’t learn what you learn until you learn it. Should I have known? Abso-f***ing-lute. But I do now. And I wouldn’t make the same choice in the future.’
