Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her husband, over three decades, Todd Palin, quietly ended their divorce four months ago, court records show.
The case has been sealed to the public, but a publicly available document shows that their divorce was granted on March 23 after an undisputed hearing, PEOPLE first reported.
Todd Palin first filed for divorce on September 5, 2019 – his birthday – citing “inconsistency of temperament between the parties so that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife.”
The 55-year-old sought joint custody of their now 12-year-old son, Trig, and an equal distribution of their wealth, his original complaint stated.
All other documents in the case were made confidential after it was sealed, but the role shows that no child maintenance has been provided.

In her only public interview about their divorce, Sarah Palin told a Christian broadcaster last fall that she heard that her husband intended to leave her in an email from his lawyer on June 19.
Three months before he officially filed for divorce, she received the shocking “devastating” message.
The former 2008 vice president said she “ felt like I had been shot ” when she heard of her husband’s desire to divorce, which came a week after their 31st birthday.
At the time of the November interview, she said the couple was in counseling and their relationship was “not over yet.”
Sarah Palin was elected Governor of Alaska in 2006 and her family was put in the national spotlight two years later when Republican presidential candidate John McCain added her to his ticket as vice president.
Todd, a commercial fisherman and oilfield worker, became an instant media sensation dubbed the ‘First Dude’.
McCain and Palin lost the election of Barack Obama and Joe Biden, and Palin stepped down as governor the following year.
Sarah remained a household name and a prominent voice in the Republican Party, especially in the rise of the Tea Party. She was one of the first politicians to endorse Donald Trump’s candidacy in 2016.
Her family also received a lot of attention for pop culture, even starring in their own TLC show, ‘Sarah Palin’s Alaska,’ from 2010 to 2011.

March 2020 – Their divorce is finalized
Her marriage to Todd had been haunted by unsubstantiated divorce rumors for ten years.
In 2009, People reported about “extramarital affairs on both sides and an imminent divorce,” but that story was quickly dismissed by the Palin camp.
“None of the rumors. No divorce. No business. No country in Montana. Nothing! All lies and fabrications! said a spokesman for Palin at the time.
Sarah seemed to respond to the rumors on her Facebook page and wrote, “Again, some so-called journalists have decided to make up a story.”
In September 2018, Sarah and Todd sat down for an exclusive interview with DailyMailTV at their family home in Wasilla, Alaska.
They described how they met in high school after Todd moved to Wasilla and immediately had an impact on the school’s basketball team, which coached Sarah’s father, Chuck Heath.
Sarah said she introduced herself to Todd on the basketball court after hearing her father’s praise for the new player.
“I wrote TP on my hand because he was like my first boyfriend – the first child I ever fell in love with,” Sarah told DailyMailTV, “and then [one] At the dinner table in the evening my father saw that he had his initials on my hands, he was such a stupid thing to do! I was so ashamed. ‘
About their 30th wedding anniversary, Sarah added, ‘Well it’s not easy there are ups and downs and I think people just have to remember when you are in that downswing there will be a resurgence, you know you’re there must stay … but we had hellish times. ‘
A number of challenges have tested their relationship over three decades, perhaps the biggest of which is the diagnosis of their son Trig’s syndrome.
Todd was working on an oil field in Canada 1700 miles away when 12-week pregnant Sarah learned that their fifth child was to suffer from the condition.
“That was a difficult time, but also a blessing,” Sarah told DailyMailTV.
She said she asked Todd, “Why us?” and he replied, “I guess why we don’t?”
“I was still scared – I didn’t know what to expect, I didn’t know how great it was going to be,” Sarah said, adding that the challenges of raising a special needs child should never be underestimated.
“When I hear a parental complaint about their two-year-old—” Uhh, he didn’t let me brush his teeth today! – I’m just like, “Man, appreciate that you have it relatively easily.”
“The most challenging thing is not to look too far into the future and to be afraid of what awaits Trig. I am so thankful that he has the big family with his big brother and big sisters. He is always taken care of. ‘
In the meantime, their eldest son Track has faced very different difficulties in recent years.
The now 31-year-old has problems with the law because he abused both a pregnant girlfriend and his father after taking pills and alcohol while struggling to adjust to life after army visits to Iraq.
The second child Bristol was also at the center of the scandal after she became pregnant when she was seventeen and subsequently canceled her marriage to Medal of Honor winner Dakota Meyer days before they would walk down the aisle in 2015.
Despite their divorce, Sarah and Todd continued to spend time together. The pair reunited in November to form a unified front when their daughter Willow gave birth to twin girls
The couple, who first met in high school before running away in August 1988, have five children
Bristol later became pregnant with Meyer and had a daughter before eventually getting married. Once married, they had a second child, but they divorced after less than two years.
And it’s that kind of drama, Sarah said last September 2018, that makes the Palins more human.
She remembered the Republican National Convention in St Paul, Minnesota in 2008 when she was number two on her party ticket.
Trig was a 16-week-old baby then. Bristol in high school, teenage and pregnant. We were only a microcosm of America. We were on the podium there and I just thought, “Oh man … who is that?”
“Everything is possible in America and wow, God blesses us.”
