Sarah Hyland revealed that Wells Adams was feeling a little smitten after previewing the voice she would use as Audrey in the Little Shop of Horrors revival during her visit to Live with Kelly and Mark on Friday.

Sarah Hyland said she was surprised by her husband’s reaction to her latest Broadway role.

The Modern Family alum, 33, revealed that Wells Adams was feeling a little smitten after seeing a preview of the voice she would use as Audrey in the Little Shop of Horrors revival during her visit to Lives with Kelly and Mark on Friday.

The star, who recently celebrated Wells’ 40th birthday in style, said he was convinced to hear her accent for Audrey, as Broadway icon Ellen Greene’s performance was made famous when she originated the role in 1982 and in the film of 1986.

“I don’t have an Ellen Greene accent,” Sarah began. “But my husband was asking me on the phone, ‘Hey, how do you do it? Do it for me!’ So I gave him a little preview over the phone of the accent.

“He says, ‘This is going to be very sexual for me,'” she recalled, noting that it was “the wildest reaction.”

He added: “He told me, ‘It’s like my wife is playing Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny and it’s so hot.’

Nearly a decade after her role as Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Bouvier in the original 2006 Broadway production of Gray Gardens, Sarah returned to the stage with her performance in Little Shop of Horrors.

She shared with Live hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos that she felt “terrified, nervous and afraid” to return, and admitted that she was very critical of her own abilities.

“I mean, it’s been 17 years since I did 8 shows a week,” he added. “So it’s been a long, long time.”

Last August, the adorable couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary.

The two took to Instagram to share some sweet sentiments, which turned out to be an early morning affair.

“A year of marriage to you flew by in the blink of an eye,” Sarah began in the caption of a wedding photo showing Adams showing off her wedding ring.

She continued: ‘You are my HUSBAND.’ My best friend. My true north. I love you more than words can say and every day is the best day when I am with you. Marriage is the most fun I’ve ever had because I get to marry you.

Adams wasted little time responding, writing: ‘How did you beat me at this?!? It’s 4am in Fiji!!!!! But I love you more. So that’s all.

Sarah also shared a series of snaps taken on their wedding day which included one of Wells leading his new wife onto the dance floor doing a traditional lady’s swirl.

“The only dance partner I’ll ever need,” she gushed beneath the black-and-white photo.
