American Idol contestant Sarah Beth Libby has dramatically dropped out of the competition – after judge Katy Perry received backlash for mocking the mother-of-three during her audition.
During the March 5 episode, Sarah Beth shocked the judges when she revealed that she had given birth to three children before the age of 25 — prompting Perry to quip that the young mother “spent too much time at the table” in widespread derision. note.
Sarah chose to walk away from the competition to be “with her kids” during Sunday’s Hollywood Week episode – leaving the judges and producers in shock.
She performed her first song on the tour, The Police Hit Roxanne, before telling judges Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie: “This opportunity is really amazing, but this will actually be my last performance, because my heart is at home.”

Brian called the decision a “mistake” while Perry begged the mother to reconsider, with Sarah responding: “I don’t even know what show business is. I have been a mother since I was 18 years old. I have been married since I was 18 years old. I don’t think I fully realized how hard it was to be away from my kids.
They are all still really young. There is a lot of guilt when you let your kids do something completely selfish. I feel like I’m not going to win the show anyway, so I might as well go home.
‘You opened a door you never thought you’d open,’ said Perry, ‘and I got a yeah. You may get other blessings in the future. Don’t give up.
I’m really humbled and grateful, Sarah said backstage, and Katie had some really nice things to say. If my kids were a little older… I would understand how huge the opportunity would be, but I still wanted to go home.

Sharing a video on TikTok after her exit was confirmed, Sarah revealed she had a panic attack shortly after her first audition.
She wrote, “Not many people realize I was scouted for an audition. They reached out to me. And I am so grateful. I’ve never had this much support with vocals. Which is amazing and humbling and it made me realize how badly I wanted to play music.
Six months ago, I didn’t know that yet. But I’m also allowed to make the hard choices that are best for me.
This comes after Sarah talks about the incident with Peri, which angered her greatly.

She continued, “It was embarrassing to watch that on TV.” And it hurt, you know, that’s all.
Sarah Beth continued to encourage others to advance women and spoke directly to other young mothers who reached out to support her.
“But I wanted to take this opportunity to say that I think women who support and lift up other women is so wonderful and I think mother-shaming is so lame.
“And I think it’s hard being a mother and it’s hard being a woman. I wanted to take this opportunity to say that I see all the young mothers and mothers in general who comment on all the videos and posts… I see you, I hear you, and I feel so grateful.
Continue to love your children. Nobody deserves to feel bad about that. I think if you’re a good mama and love your kids, that’s all that really matters and the other comments just don’t feel necessary,” concluded Sarah Beth.
According to her TikTok, Sarah Beth welcomed her first child at the age of 18.
For the most part, she keeps her three children off social media and has not revealed any details about their age or gender.
