Sandara Park laughed on “It’s Showtime” after she pointed out that there is no portrait of her hanging in the ABS-CBN aisle and jokingly asked the channel why.
Park returned to the afternoon show stage after years and sang both her single ‘Festival’ and ‘I Am the Best’ by 2ne1 on Saturday, September 23.
“How are you, Madlang people! Si Sandara ‘on. Namiss ko kayo (I missed you)!” she greeted the audience. “Alam niyo, sabi ng mga fans ko, last visit ko raw sa ‘Showtime’ six years ago.” (My fans told me my last visit here was six years ago.)
“Hindi kasi is called nakapunta dahil sa COVID so I was really waiting for this moment na babalik ako sa ‘Showtime’,” she continued. (I couldn’t come due to COVID, so I was really waiting for this moment.)
The K-pop star then recalled her roots in ABS-CBN after host Anne Curtis asked the former how she feels about Filipino fans still calling her the “Pambansang Krung-krung ng Pilipinas.”
“Kaya mahal na mahal ko ang Pilipinas e. This also applies to ABS-CBN,” Park said. (That’s why I love the Philippines; I started my career here, especially in ABS-CBN.)
“Pero nagtataka ako, bakit wala ‘yung picture ko sa wall sa labas?” she joked, referring to the network’s hallway where portraits of the stars hang on the wall. “Pakilagay niyo po ‘yung picture ko.”
(But I was wondering why I don’t have a portrait hanging on the wall outside. Please put my photo there.)
The hosts and audience burst into laughter, with Kim Chiu mentioning the name of an apparent production staffer to give Park an explanation.
Park continued to promote her latest self-titled album, her first solo album in twenty years, and then danced with the hosts to the theme song ‘Mini Ms. YOU’.
Park first gained fame as a “Star Circle Quest” talent in the country in 2004, and then debuted in 2009 as a member of the K-pop girl group 2NE1, along with CL, Minzy and Bom. The group was officially disbanded in 2016.
Ahead of her appearance on “It’s Showtime,” Park expressed her disappointment after a concert in Cebu City where she was scheduled to perform was canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances.” /ra
